First and foremost, we have missed you! The idea of doing a “bonus track” alongside the rest of the THRIVE Training tracks was born out of the desire we’ve had for some time to connect with our amazing graduates.
Our next Bonus Track: Maintaining Momentum will be held at our Premier Training this October in Denver, Colorado.
We are joyfully anticipating the opportunity to spend time with our faithful friends this fall and hope you can join us!
We all have coping mechanisms that are often learned early in life. They are outdated. They need to be revised, renewed and renovated in some meaningful way. What tends to happen with old coping mechanisms is this: We learn and develop new skills along the way, but we still rely on old coping mechanisms that have not been updated. These mechanisms are firmly rooted in pain which makes them resistant to change.
For example, I may learn new return to joy skills to better handle times I feel some shame. I now have something on file to lean on in the moments my peace disappears. However, an old coping mechanism may be that instead of using the new skills I now have, I instead turn to old patterns of responding which means I hide and disconnect rather than engage God and others. I turn to sugar and sweets for comfort, and I still think bad thoughts I don’t want in my mind in these moments. Coping mechanisms are anchored in pain, which means some focused Immanuel interaction can free me up to better use the skills I’ve learned instead of relying on old patterns I want to break free from.
1. Connecting & Hearing Your Updates
We want to hear how you are doing and learn what you are doing. This will be a chance for everyone to network and share how God is working in your life. We love listening to testimonies of people using and spreading the good stuff!
2. Sharing THRIVEtoday Updates
Our next goal is to share some of what we’ve been up to since you finished your Track 3 training. We have been busily creating and testing new material that is relevant and helpful for our Track 3 Graduates.
3. Diving into New Material Together!
Finally, for some time we have been wanting to spend focused time together to discuss how important coping mechanisms need to be updated.
We’ve been actively running online events, leading online and in-person groups, writing books and finding useful ways to train relational skills. As you know, our colleagues call us “the practice people” because it’s our desire to find creative ways to practice relational skills and train individuals and groups.
Practice and interaction between people as well as with God updates our character with relational habits that show up in the good and the hard times. We look forward to sharing these resources that you can enjoy and utilize as you spread relational skills to the people in your life!
