Track 2

Welcome to track 2

After one year of joy training, it is time for Track 2 where we build a “Resilient Identity”. Now I train my brain to regulate negative emotions so I stay the source of good things to others. Here I learn how the painful failure to thrive impacts me and my loved ones. Failure to thrive means a life stuck in pain, fleeing pain, or rigidly avoiding any risk of pain. This failure to thrive emerges from a badly developed and poorly trained control center.

The Year Two – Returning to Joy lectures in addition to the online courses prepare trainees for Track 2. After Track 2 I can strengthen my skills, sustain my joy and prepare for Track 3 with my Mastering Returning to Joy Skill Guide.

Prerequisite: Completion of Track 1

PREP WORK

Your track prep work is thoughtfully designed to set you up for success by giving you a foundational understanding of the topics covered in your live training sessions.

Each track includes its own tailored list of prep resources. For tracks 1-3, these fall into two categories, which are laid out in more detail in your track prep work packet that highlights:

1. CORE PREP WORK – Required for all track participants. This ensures everyone arrives with a shared baseline of knowledge.

  • Required – see the list of required resources.
  • Recommended – see the list of recommended resources.

2. SPECIFIC APPLICATION PREP WORK – For those wanting to spread relational skills to your network, we offer additional prep work so you can better apply what you’ve learned within a specific sphere—like your family, church group, or another community—we offer four targeted pathways with additional resources designed to deepen your impact.

  • Marriage & Family Pathway – Ideal for parents, grandparents, family, counselors, and leaders in marriage, family, or children’s ministry.
  • Counseling Pathway – Designed for counselors, coaches, prayer ministers, and others who offer emotional or spiritual support.
  • Pastoral Pathway – For pastors and ministry leaders guiding congregations or Christian communities.
  • Leadership Pathway – Perfect for leaders in any environment – church, workplace, teams, or community settings.

Missionaries: pick the pathway that best fits your mission field needs.
